Reporting Fish Abnormalities

The Regional Aquatics Monitoring Program (RAMP) monitors the health of the rivers and lakes in the Athabasca oil sands region. RAMP relies on community participation to collect important data within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo.

If you catch a fish in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo that looks unusual,  please contact Hatfield Consultants in Fort McMurray at 1-888-743-4290 with the following information:

  • Where you caught the fish;
  • The type of fish; and
  • The type of abnormality (and any photos of the fish).

If the fishing regulations allow you to keep the fish, it could be submitted for analysis by contacting the Canadian Cooperative Wildlife Health Centre at 1-888-966-5815, or Hatfield Consultants.
